Stone Barns Taps New Executive Director

Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in Pocantico Hills has named Jill Isenbarger as executive director.
 Isenbarger previously served as chief of staff for The Nature Conservancy, the world’s leading conservation organization with 3,500 employees in 34 countries. She said she is looking forward at Stone Barns to raise awareness about local food production, sustainable farming, the pleasures of healthy eating and responsible land stewardship.

Acupuncture Center Opens in Tarrytown

Patrick Studley, a long time resident of Sleepy Hollow, recently opened Hudson River Acupuncture at Living in Balance-Integrative Healing Center at 167 Benedict Avenue in Tarrytown.
 A graduate of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City, with a Masters of Science degree in Oriental Medicine, Studley practices Traditional Chinese Medicine, which includes acupuncture, Chinese herbs, nutrition, Qi Gong and meditation.

Psychotherapist Moves Into Rivertowns

 Linda Walter, L.C.S.W., who has more than 25 years experience as a psychotherapist, recently moved her practice from Manhattan to Dobbs Ferry.
 Walter, who utilizes short-term therapy techniques, specializes in the treatment of anxiety and stress related disorders, depression, marital difficulties and women’s related issues, such as life changes, infertility and returning to the workplace.

Servpro Moves To Sleepy Hollow

Mat Sale to Benefit Breast Cancer Research

Carpet One Floor & Home is selling spring welcome mats to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
 Twenty-five percent of the sales of the mats, which sell for approximately $25 and come with a pink ribbon, will be donated to help support research and awareness programs.

Riverspa: 10 Years of 'Peace and Calm'

New WinterMarket Satisfies Taste Buds
Community Markets’ new indoor WinterMarket opened to rave reviews from customers last month in the Briarcliff Congressional Church, located on the corner of Elm Street and South State Road.

“I’m thrilled! I just think it’s the greatest thing,” said Ossining resident Henrietta Porter. “This is bringing the produce right to us, and it’s quality.”

“I love it. It’s great,” said Marilyn Slaatten, also of Ossining. “They do whatever they can to make you happy.”

‘I Want to Shop Local’ at the Nu Toy Store
Jack Rafter is like a little kid in a toy store. Actually, he is a little kid and it’s his mother’s toy store. Angel Rafter, 38 (in photo with sons Logan and Jack) opened up the Nu Toy Store at 36.5 Main St., in Tarrytown, where Baby Bees recently closed after seven years.

Rafter used to own Kid Stuff, a consignment shop on Broadway, and had been looking for a place on Main Street to open up a new toy store. When she inquired about the Baby Bees location, “it was as if all the doors opened at the same time,” Rafter said, except, she added with a laugh, “the economic one.”
